The Last of Us

So, Naughty Dog has apparently been working on another game for the last two years that is NOT Uncharted 3. The Last of Us began as a viral campaign for an unannounced PS3 exclusive about a week ago, and has resulted in a trailer kicking off the VGAs Saturday night. By far the biggest surprise of this game has been that Naughty Dog was actually behind it. This project has been kept secret for two years now, with nary a leak. That in itself is pretty damn impressive.

But not as impressive as the game itself. Naughty Dog continues to show it’s excellent understanding of getting mo-cap perfect, since the announcement trailer shows highly detailed movements of the characters that are scarily accurate. The visuals are also stunning, better than Uncharted 3 even. But above all is the atmosphere. From what I can tell so far about this game, ND is taking a very mature route for both content, and story. The trailer starts off showing more blood than we’ve probably seen in every ND game to date, all at once. I’m excited to see where Naughty Dog can take this game without having to stay within ‘T’ rated boundaries.

Basically, I now have something to look forward to in 2012.
